For two decades the previously unoccupied ‘Fourth Plinth’ in Trafalgar Square has been the site of a changing display of specially commissioned sculpture. Since 2005, individual projects have been chosen by competition. This page includes a selection of works that have occupied the plinth since 1999. There is also a handful of models (maquettes) for projects that were not selected, including proposals by Tracey Emin, Liliane Lijn and Hew Locke.
